Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad on Saturday accused the central government of not running enough trains for migrant workers from Bihar who want to come to their homes during Chhath Puja, and said they are “forced to travel in inhuman conditions”.

The former chief minister also shared a video on social media, in which passengers are seen traveling in a jam-packed train bound for Bihar for the festival. The RJD chief wrote on ‘X’, “The uncrowned king of lies and Sardar of Jumla had boasted that out of the total 13,198 trains in the country, 12,000 trains would be run for Bihar on the occasion of Chhath festival. This also turned out to be a white lie. My people of Bihar are being forced to travel in trains in an inhuman manner.”

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda had recently said in a public meeting in Bihar that the Railway Ministry has increased the number of special trains to 12,000 this time in view of the rush of passengers during the Chhath festival.

Prasad said, “These people cannot run the trains properly even on Chhath, the great festival of folk faith for the Biharis who are facing the brunt of migration during the 20 years of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.”

He wrote, “My people of Bihar have to travel in trains in an inhuman manner. How shameful is this? Due to the wrong policies of the double engine government, every year more than four crore people of Bihar migrate to other states for work.”

He said, “Since the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, the NDA government has not set up any big industry in Bihar. These people are anti-Bihar.”

Let us tell you that the elections for 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on 6th and 11th November. The results will be declared on 14 November.
