In the first phase of Bihar elections, stones were pelted at the convoy of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Vijay Kumar Sinha from Lakhisarai. Vijay Kumar Sinha, Deputy Chief Minister in the Nitish Kumar-led government, has alleged that stones and cow dung were thrown at his convoy.
He claimed that the attack was carried out by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supporters while they were trying to capture a booth. Vijay Sinha held RJD responsible for this incident and also targeted the Superintendent of Police of Lakhisarai. He criticized the Lakhisarai Superintendent of Police, calling him coward and weak.
This incident took place near booth numbers 404 and 405 of Lakhisarai assembly constituency. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha had gone to inspect the ongoing voting at the polling stations in his constituency. During this, his convoy was stopped by angry people near booth numbers 404 and 405.
It is alleged that cow dung and stones were also thrown at the vehicles included in his convoy. There was chaos at the spot. Vijay Kumar Sinha’s security personnel somehow controlled the situation. Speaking to the media about the incident, Vijay Kumar Sinha said that an attempt was made to capture the booth.
He claimed that his convoy was attacked and cow dung was thrown at it. This reflects the mentality of RJD. Weaker sections of the society are being prevented from voting. Vijay Sinha also accused the local administration of not taking timely action and described the local Superintendent of Police (SP) of the village as cowardly and weak.
Vijay Sinha also demanded immediate deployment of central forces. If the situation does not improve, he will go on a hunger strike in this village. He also threatened to complain about the incident to the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Election Commission. Senior police officers including Lakhisarai Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Kumar reached the spot to investigate the incident.
