Chennai, 31 December (IANS). Union Minister Piyush Goyal will be on a tour of Tamil Nadu on January 4-5. During this time, he will also hold important alliance talks with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leadership. He has also been made the election in-charge of Tamil Nadu by BJP.
Piyush Goyal had earlier held initial talks with AIADMK leaders on December 23, in which initial discussions were held on seat sharing and alliance strategy. During those talks, the AIADMK had hinted at giving around 23 assembly seats to the BJP, although no final agreement was reached at that time.
The January 4 visit is expected to be decisive in seat-sharing talks. Goyal will be in Tamil Nadu on January 4 and 5, during which he will hold detailed talks with senior BJP officials and alliance partners.
The second round of talks is expected to focus on finalizing the seat sharing formula, coordinating campaign strategies and deciding the broad framework of the NDA alliance in the state.
During this visit, Piyush Goyal and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. An important meeting is going to take place between Palaniswami. Political experts believe that these talks can play an important role in deciding the future of the BJP-AIADMK alliance and resolving differences before the 2026 assembly elections.
Apart from talks with AIADMK leaders, Goyal is also expected to meet leaders of potential alliance partners like Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK). These meetings are being considered a part of BJP’s larger effort to strengthen the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu.
