Bengaluru, May 9 (IANS). Referring to the political success of BJP in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that this day is historic for those who believe in the ideology of the party. He said that now the saffron flag is flying on the land of great personalities like Sri Aurobindo, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Syama Prasad Mukherjee.
Home Minister Shah was addressing the ‘Abhimanotsav’ program organized in Chitradurga, central Karnataka. This program was organized by former Chief Minister B.S. It was organized to commemorate 50 years of Yediyurappa’s public life. He also mentioned that this ceremony is taking place on the same day on which the BJP government is being sworn in in West Bengal.
He said, “This is a historic day for those who respect Mother India and dedicate their lives to our ideology. The saffron flag has now been hoisted in the land where great personalities like Sri Aurobindo, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Syama Prasad Mukherjee were born.”
Amit Shah said, “When the date of this felicitation ceremony was fixed, we did not know that on the same day the BJP Chief Minister of West Bengal would take oath. Today on one hand the BJP government is being formed in Bengal and on the other hand we are celebrating 50 years of political and public life of Yediyurappa ji.”
He received B.S. Praising Yediyurappa’s simplicity and humility, he said that despite holding high positions, he always remained connected to the ground.
Shah said, “Yediyurappa ji has always been polite. His speech was scheduled before me, but I said today is his day. So he should speak after me and I will listen to his entire speech.”
Sharing his personal experience, the Home Minister said he has campaigned with Yediyurappa in three general elections and urged young BJP workers to learn from his discipline and dedication.
He said, “Yediyurappa ji writes down the names and problems of the people he meets in a small pocket diary. Workers like us need to learn a lot from him.”
Home Minister Shah also praised Yediyurappa’s contribution to religious institutions and memorials built in the memory of martyrs.
He said, “Only a person who truly loves the society and thinks of taking it forward can do such work.”
The Home Minister said that Yediyurappa played an important role in giving global recognition to Bengaluru and maintaining communal harmony in Karnataka.
