Kolkata, July 5 (IANS). Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja in West Bengal. Meanwhile, BJP leaders Kaustav Bagchi and Locket Chatterjee launched a scathing attack on these events as well as on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress (TMC). Meanwhile, the famous Chorbagan Durga Puja Committee of Kolkata unveiled its ‘Akaal Bodhan’ theme for this year.
BJP leader Kaustav Bagchi told IANS, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s participation in Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee’s program is an important occasion for Bengal and especially for Bengali Hindus. During this, the statue of Dr. Mukherjee will also be unveiled, which is being seen as a historic moment.”
Bagchi said, “Syama Prasad Mukherjee has been a source of inspiration for Bengali Hindus. Amit Shah’s presence in the program organized in his honor is a big thing in itself. This will provide an opportunity to convey his ideas and contributions to the new generation.”
He alleged that some people have been trying to forget the contributions of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee and other historical figures over the years, but the public has responded to such attempts during the elections. He said that action will be taken against those who commit wrongdoings within the ambit of law.
Taking aim at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress, Kaustav Bagchi said, “TMC’s political influence has reduced with time. According to me, earlier the law enforcement was affected due to the influence of power, but now action is being taken as per the rule of law and the culprits will be held accountable.”
On the importance of Durga Puja, he said that it is not just a religious event, but the biggest festival related to the cultural identity of Bengal and the sentiments of Bengalis. He said that people across the state eagerly wait for this festival.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Locket Chatterjee said that this year special programs will be organized on the birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee. He told that BJP leaders will visit Dr. Mukherjee’s residence and his statue will also be inaugurated. This program is being organized on a large scale and many people will participate in it.
