Women’s World Cup 2025, Indore: Australia’s women’s cricket team is currently in Indore, where it will face South Africa in the 26th match of the World Cup 2025 on Saturday, but just before this match, an incident of molestation of two Australian women players has come to light.

At the time of the incident, the Australian cricketer was walking towards the cafe from Hotel Radisson Blu. The players allege that meanwhile a youth riding a bike molested them. The women players immediately sent an SOS notification, after which the police officers reached the spot as soon as the information was received.

On the complaint of security officer Denny Simmons, MIG police have registered an FIR and arrested the accused. CCTV footage, hotel records and statements of security personnel related to the incident are being recorded.

Upon receiving the information, senior police officers met both the players, recorded their statements and registered an FIR under section 74 (use of criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman) and section 78 (stalking) of the Indian Judicial Code (BNS) at the MIG police station.

The bike of the accused, who was working as a local delivery executive, has been seized. Further investigation is ongoing in the matter. There are already criminal cases registered against the accused.

State Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said, calling this incident tragic and hurting the honor of the country, “This is not just misbehavior with a female player, but it tarnishes the image of India. Strict action should be taken against such people, so that in future no one tries to play with the reputation of the country.”

He said, “The Madhya Pradesh government works on a policy of zero tolerance in this matter. If anyone is found guilty in the investigation, then legal action should be taken against him as well as punishment should be given to set an example. At the international level, when foreign guests come to play on the country’s soil, we have full responsibility for their respect and safety. India is a cultural country, where there is a tradition of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’. Such incidents hurt that culture.”

It is noteworthy that the Australian team is currently on top in the points table after winning five out of six matches. This team won the match against New Zealand by 89 runs, after which the match against Sri Lanka was canceled due to rain.

The Australian team defeated India by 3 wickets after registering a 107-run win against Pakistan. After this, Australia defeated Bangladesh by 10 wickets and defeated England by 6 wickets.

All four teams have been decided for the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup 2025. Apart from Australia, South Africa, England and India have secured tickets for the next round.

The first semi-final match will be played on October 29 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, while the second ODI match will be played on October 30 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
