New Delhi, October 14 (IANS). The government on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with online food delivery platform Zomato to expand access to flexible and technology-enabled livelihood opportunities through the National Career Service (NCS) platform, which can generate about 2.5 lakh employment opportunities annually.
Union Labor Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that this platform will integrate jobs into the formal employment system, thereby connecting job seekers with dignified and technology-enabled livelihoods.
Dr. Mandaviya said that the NCS portal has emerged as a must-have platform for job seekers both nationally and internationally, connecting millions of individuals with employment and livelihood opportunities.
He further said that this portal, launched in 2015, has more than 7.7 crore jobs listed and has been acting as an important bridge between job seekers and employers.
He informed that many leading organizations have already partnered with the NCS portal and the collaboration with Zomato is another milestone in the efforts of the Ministry to expand flexible and technology-enabled livelihoods.
Minister of State for Labor and Employment Shobha Karandlaje stressed the importance of providing social security to every organized and unorganized worker in the country.
He further said that this agreement supports the Pradhan Mantri Vikassheel Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) and the government’s vision of Developing India 2047, which promotes formalization and social security for all workers.
Karandlaje called on all stakeholders to work in close partnership with the government to ensure an inclusive and secure livelihood approach for all workers.
Vandana Gurnani, Secretary, Ministry of Labor and Employment, said that the new career opportunities coming on the National Career Service (NCS) portal around Diwali will give a boost to both job seekers and employers.
