Bengaluru, June 30 (IANS). NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) Director Deepak Bagla on Tuesday said India’s Global Capability Center (GCC) ecosystem has strong potential to drive the next wave of innovation-led growth in the country by partnering with startups, incubators and young innovators.

Addressing the GCC Conclave on Innovation 2026 organized in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog and Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) in Bengaluru, Bagla highlighted the growing role of GCCs in India’s innovation journey and called upon the industry to have a deeper engagement with the country’s innovation ecosystem.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often emphasized that ‘Jai Anusandhan’ should become a driving force of developed India. Over the last decade, Atal Innovation Mission has taken this thinking forward and prepared young innovators through more than 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs across the country. Along with this, support has also been given to startups and grassroots level innovators through more than 100 incubators.

Bagla further said that today the GCC has made India a global hub of technology, engineering and product innovation. If these capabilities are combined with startups and innovation ecosystem, it will provide better opportunities to talent, promote entrepreneurship, faster adoption of new technologies across industries and create globally competitive companies, which will significantly contribute to achieving the goal of ‘Developed India 2047’.

STPI Director General Arvind Kumar said India’s GCC ecosystem, which employs over 2,100 centers and generates revenues of nearly $100 billion, is a testament to the country’s growing technological capability. He said that since 1991, STPI has played an important role in strengthening the technical infrastructure and policy framework in India.

He believes that this partnership with Atal Innovation Mission will help connect GCC with startups and innovators across the country.

At the same time, Dr. Sanjay Tyagi, Director of STPI Bengaluru said that Bengaluru has emerged as India’s largest Global Capability Center hub. He stressed that if collaboration between startups, incubators and the GCC is further strengthened, commercialization of technologies and entrepreneurship will get a new impetus.

The conclave was attended by representatives from leading global technology companies such as Intel, IBM, Bosch, Amazon, SAP, Thermo Fisher Scientific, CGI, Shell, Mercedes-Benz, Philips, Morgan Stanley, Nvidia, Samsung, Sandisk, Wipro and Yahoo.

Besides, representatives from Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL), Atal Incubation Centers (AIC), Atal Community Innovation Centers (ACIC), STPI Centers of Entrepreneurship, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) and other innovation related institutions also participated in the event.
