Google has gone beyond just making Gmail an email app and has deeply integrated Google Gemini into it. This new update aims to provide users with a more personalized and intelligent email experience, where the inbox will automatically tell you what is important and what needs immediate attention. According to Google’s Product Vice President Blake Barnes, Gmail will now anticipate the user’s needs. However, the traditional inbox is not going away; This will be a new optional view which users can turn on or off as per need.
New Google Gemini AI features coming to Gmail:
AI inbox
The AI Inbox feature will show users an AI-generated summary of their important emails. It will have two main sections: one for tasks that require immediate attention and the other for topics the user needs to stay updated on. Bill payments, appointments or other important reminders will appear in the Urgent Tasks section. The catch-up section will provide updates related to shopping, finance or other categories at one place. Gmail will now also have an AI overview, allowing users to ask questions about their emails in natural language. Gemini AI will understand your emails and respond immediately. This feature will be especially beneficial for those who receive dozens of emails every hour and want to avoid searching for them again and again.
help me write
The Help Me Write feature turns Gmail into your personal email writer. Earlier limited only to paid Gemini users, this feature is now being made available to free users also. With this, users will be able to easily create professional and great emails by giving some keywords.
AI thread and proofread
Reading long email conversations can often be tiring. The AI Thread feature will automatically create a short and clear summary of such long email threads. The proofread feature will help clarify the language, tone, and purpose of your email, ensuring your message is delivered accurately.
The future of Gmail is even smarter
With these new Google Gemini features, Gmail will no longer just be a tool for sending and receiving emails, but will act as a smart assistant. Users can choose to use the old inbox or adopt the new AI-based view to easily manage their email overload.
