New Delhi, February 12 (IANS). According to an article, India will have to make major progress in new and advanced technologies to increase its power (influence on other countries) at the diplomatic level. India should prepare its strategy by learning from the American model, especially in areas like rare earth processing, advanced medicines, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and affordable satellite launch services. This will enable India to create such strategic dependence, which it can use for its interests in international relations.

The article published in ‘India Narrative’ states that America’s hold in advanced technological sectors like defense and IT and its strong financial system have made it influential in global diplomacy. On the basis of this strength, America is able to conduct relations with other countries according to its interests.

This article written by Shrijit Phadke states that the reason for America’s success is that it has gained hold in areas where the world cannot function without it. India will also have to continuously innovate without compromising its values, make coordinated efforts towards shared goals and develop capabilities on which the world can depend.

The article suggests that India should focus on certain areas, such as rare earth processing, affordable medicines and advanced biologics, open-source AI for emerging countries, affordable satellite and launch services and digital public infrastructure (such as expanding UPI to the world). If the world depends on these services of India, then India will be able to increase its diplomatic strength.

The article states that influence cannot be created in international relations through goodwill alone. From time to time, the US has used various means to pursue its interests such as tariffs, economic sanctions, technical standards, financial system and cultural influence. The real power lies with the one who has such a special ability whose alternative is not easily available.

The article also says that India should not copy America, but should adopt its basic principles in its own way. India will have to make selected sectors, technologies and services so important that they become essential for the world.

The article suggests that India should rapidly expand into high-value service sectors such as IT, software, AI, fintech and biotech. Besides, strength should also be maintained in electronics, renewable energy and defense production. Emphasis has been laid on increasing global market share in new areas such as AI, quantum security technology and green hydrogen.

Furthermore, the article emphasizes the need for major reforms in the education and research system. In-depth and original research should be given priority instead of cramming in the syllabus. New and bold ideas should be encouraged, which can create a monopoly-like situation at the global level. Stringent standards should be set at the national level for ‘true innovation’, so that results emerge that can give the country a strategic edge.
