Citing US President Donald Trump’s latest comment on mediating between India and Pakistan, the Congress on Thursday took a dig at the fact that it has been claimed 58 times that ‘Operation Vermillion’ was stopped by threatening trade and ‘tariffs’ (fees).
Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh mentioned the latest statement given by Trump in the American city of Miami.
Ramesh posted on These are all the places where President Trump has declared that he used trade and tariffs to stop ‘Operation Vermilion’. He said, “This claim has been made 58 times since the first announcement of the end of Operation Vermilion was made from Washington DC on the evening of May 10.”
The US President has many times claimed that he had stopped the military conflict between India and Pakistan in May this year by threatening to impose tariffs and not trade.
However, India has repeatedly clarified that the decision to stop the military action was taken after being contacted by Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) in May this year.
