Confirming the ‘very special relationship’ between India and America, US President Donald Trump said that he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will always be friends. He said that ‘there is nothing to worry’.
However, he expressed displeasure at what he (Prime Minister Modi) is doing in contemporary times.
Asked by ANI, “Are you ready to re -establish relations with India at this time?”
US President Trump said, “I will always do this. I will always be a friend with (PM) Modi. He is a great Prime Minister. I will always be a friend, but I do not like what he is doing in this special moment. But there is a very special relationship between India and the United States. There is a very special relationship between India and the United States. There is nothing to worry. We have a few moments”.
On another question asked by the media about the progress of trade negotiations with India and other countries, with which the US has not been able to compromise yet, Trump said the agreements are going well.
However, he expressed his unhappiness over the recent fines imposed on Google by the European Union.
Trump said, “They are doing very well. Other countries are also doing very well. We are doing very well with all. We are angry with the European Union of what is happening not only with Google, but also with all our big countries.”
Trump had severely criticized the European Union for imposing a huge fine of $ 3.5 billion on US technology giant Google in several posts on Truth Social and described it inappropriate and said that his administration would not tolerate this ‘discriminatory action’.
The European Commission (EC) on Friday announced a fine on Google for anti-competition practices in the online advertising technology (Edtech) sector.
Earlier, during a conversation with the press, US President Donald Trump also reacted on his post on Truth social, in which he had spoken of ‘losing India and Russia to China’, saying he did not think that it had happened.
Answering a question asked by the ANI, the US President said, “I don’t think we have done so. I am very disappointed that India will buy so much oil from Russia. I have told them to tell them. We have put a huge tariff on India – 50 percent, very high tariff. As you know, I (Prime Minister) have a very good relationship with Modi. He came here a few months ago, we came here and in fact, we had come here and in reality.
His positive comment on relations with India came soon after posting a comment on his social media platform Truth Social, stating that the US has “lost Russia and India to the deepest, darkest, the dark at the hands of China.”
Trump wrote, “It seems that we have lost India and Russia deep, dark at the hands of China. God should do their future long and prosperous!”
Earlier, a spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on relations with Washington underlined the importance of bilateral relations during a weekly press conference on Friday.
Randhir Jaiswal said, “This relationship between America and India is very important for us. Both our countries share a broad global strategic partnership, which is based on our common interests, democratic values and strong relations between people.”
He said, “This partnership has faced many changes and challenges. We are focused on the solid agenda committed by both our countries and we hope that this relationship will continue to move forward on the basis of mutual respect and shared interests.”
He also confirmed that India would continue to talk with the US on trade issues. “
