New Delhi, October 13 (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday praised the completion of four years of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP), saying that this plan has emerged as a cornerstone in the journey of ‘Developed India’ in 2047.
Union Minister Goyal described PM Gati Shakti as a game-changing initiative on social media platform X.
“On completion of 4 years of PM Gati Shakti, this is an important initiative of Prime Minister Modi which has transformed India’s infrastructure planning through a ‘whole of government’ approach,” the Union minister wrote in a post on Twitter.
He further wrote, “By integrating ministries, states/UTs and territories on a digital platform, the plan has brought speed, coordination and sustainability in project execution.”
Union Minister Goyal wrote, “Promoting seamless connectivity and logistics efficiency, PM Gati Shakti is a cornerstone in our journey towards a developed India.”
PM Modi launched Gati Shakti-National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity in New Delhi on 13 October 2021. The digital platform Gati Shakti brings together multiple ministries, including the Ministry of Railways and Roadways, for coordination and integrated planning for implementation of the scheme for infrastructure connectivity projects.
Now 58 Ministries/Departments and all 36 States/UTs have come on board, integrated their data layers and been given their own geospatial planning portal.
PM Gati Shakti Yojana has successfully laid the foundation for seamless, multi-modal connectivity and accelerated economic growth. The scheme has redefined the way large-scale infrastructure projects are planned and executed in India.
According to a study by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), India’s logistics costs have declined to between 7.8-8.9 percent of GDP, much lower than the earlier estimated figure of 13-14 percent. This reflects the success of the Prime Minister Gati Shakti National Master Plan for infrastructure development.
According to a recent report titled ‘Progress at Speed’, the country’s logistics costs are still above global standards by 6-8 per cent seen in developed economies.
