New Delhi, October 17 (IANS). Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the industry and I have not yet seen a single job loss due to it. Deloitte’s Principal and Global AI Leader Nitin Mittal gave this statement on Friday.

Speaking during a session titled “The Last Job? AI and the Future of Work” at the NDTV World Summit 2025, Mittal said he has not seen a single example of job losses due to AI.

“I haven’t seen a single job being lost because of AI,” Mittal said, discussing how emerging technologies like agentic AI are reshaping work patterns.

He said some jobs—especially those involving repetitive coding—are being affected, but they are evolving rather than disappearing.

“Coding is a perfect example of this. The jobs that are being impacted are white coding done by humans. Agentic AI in particular will impact such jobs, but I haven’t found a single job that has been lost because of AI,” he said.

Mittal described agentic AI as autonomous systems that can set goals, plan and act with minimal human intervention.

He also stressed the importance of Sovereign AI, which not only protects data but also preserves the culture and language of the nation.

Asked whether India should remain a “back office” in the global AI revolution, Mittal said the country already enjoys a natural advantage due to its strong services sector.

“India, with its strong services sector, has a strong and natural advantage in applying technology to AI. But the question is how do we take advantage of this? This requires large-scale re-skilling development and investment,” he said.

He further said that although the Government of India has launched several AI-focused programs, the society as a whole has to take the responsibility of driving this change.

“The challenge is that rather than being concerned about the impact on jobs, we should focus on how we can become investors and consumers of AI,” he said.
