Fazilka, 10 September (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the flood affected areas of Punjab on Tuesday and took stock of the recent heavy rains, cloudburst and the widespread damage caused by the floods.
Meanwhile, Fazilka farmer Sandeep Kamboj met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and shared his problems, which the PM heard seriously and assured help.
Seven acres of land of Sandeep Kamboj, a resident of Maujam village in Fazilka district, which is in village Muhar Jamsher, was also hit by Sutlej water. The village is surrounded by the Pakistan border on three sides and is the only bridge connecting it to the country. Sandeep is among the 19 farmers who got a chance to meet PM Modi and tell their problems.
He said that a 45 -minute conversation with the PM took place in a very positive atmosphere. The PM asked all the farmers to make their point easily.
Sandeep Kamboj suggested that a dam should be built along with a wire fence to avoid damage done every year from Sutlej water.
He proposed that if the wire fence is 10 feet elevated and the road is elevated, the embankment can be built. The PM promised to implement his suggestion.
Sandeep Kamboj spoke to the PM in Hindi to clearly explain the problems of the border areas. He also raised the issue of barren land.
Sandeep Kamboj told that when he said ‘Waheguru ji’s Khalsa, Waheguru ji’s Fateh’ in front of the PM, the PM also responded with the same enthusiasm.
Sandeep Kamboj described the PM as a sensitive and serious leader towards farmers. He said that he had doubts in his mind before the meeting, but the PM’s simplicity and spontaneity removed it. PM Modi assured that if the Punjab government sends reports of loss, the central government will provide all possible financial assistance. The doors are open for Punjab.
