‘Locust Mudra’ is very beneficial for stomach, back and legs, know the correct method here

New Delhi, November 7 (IANS). Sitting in the same position for hours in the office can cause back and leg pain or other physical problems. Yoga methodology recommends Shalabhasana or Locust Pose to solve this problem.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, Shalabhasana or Locust Pose is an important asana, which strengthens the spine and proves helpful in reducing weight. This asana promotes overall fitness of the body, the practice of which provides many reliefs.

Experts believe that regular practice of this posture not only improves physical health but is also helpful in reducing mental stress.

Shalabhasana has many benefits. The most prominent benefit is strengthening of the spine, which eliminates back pain and weakness. It strengthens the stomach muscles, improves the digestive system and provides relief from problems like constipation. This posture is also beneficial for weight loss, it helps in burning excess fat. Additionally, it strengthens the muscles of the chest, shoulders and legs, increases lung capacity and improves blood circulation.

Locust posture is also very beneficial for women. It is beneficial in removing period related problems. This asana gives energy to the whole body.

Experts also tell the method of doing Shalabhasana. First of all, lie down on the ground on your stomach. Keep the legs straight, heels and toes connected together. Place the hands along the body, palms facing up. Now inhale and raise the head, chest, arms and legs together, while doing this a locust-like posture is formed. The stomach and waist should remain on the ground. Stay in this position for 10-20 seconds, breathe normally. Then slowly come back into the pose.

However, some people should exercise caution in its practice. Especially pregnant women, people with hernia, ulcer or abdominal surgery should not do it. People with serious problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, neck or back pain should consult a doctor. These should be practiced under the supervision of a yoga instructor.
