Bangladesh’s International Criminal Tribunal (ICT-BD) on Thursday announced that its verdict in the ongoing anti-humanity crimes case against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be pronounced on November 17.
A journalist present at the high-security special court in the capital Dhaka told PTI, “The three-member panel of judges has fixed November 17 to pronounce the verdict.”
The case is pending against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the ousted Awami League government, her then Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chaudhry Abdullah Al-Mamun. The court conducted the trial in the absence of Hasina and Kamal and declared both of them fugitives.
Former police chief Mamun faced trial by appearing in person in court, but later turned approver. He admitted his role and gave a detailed statement about the alleged role of Hasina and Kamal in suppressing the student movement last year.
Tribunal Chairman Justice Mohammad Ghulam Murtaza Majumdar concluded the hearing of the case and announced the date of delivery of the verdict.
