The Meteorological Department said on Monday that the increase in maximum temperature will not affect the prepared crop of wheat. India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that during the period from April to June, there will be excessive heat in the country, which is expected to have the worst effect on the Central and Western Peninsular parts.
He said that however, there is no warning of heat for wheat producing states except Madhya Pradesh. Mahapatra said, “The temperature in Madhya Pradesh is currently around 37-40 degrees Celsius and is expected to reach 42 degrees next week. Since 90 percent of wheat harvesting in the state has been completed, there will be no effect.
He said that even if the temperature goes above 35 degrees Celsius, there will be no effect in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The initial impact of Lu in the country in 2022 affected wheat production in India, which led to a ban on export to the world’s second largest wheat producing country.
The maximum temperature in many parts of the country during the next week is likely to gradually increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
