14-year-old Qari Abdullah Faisal Al Buti of Kuwait has achieved a major achievement in Dubai. He has secured his place as a finalist in the 28th edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Awards (DIHQA). This competition is known worldwide for the ‘most beautiful Quran recitation’ and reaching the final is a great honour. Abdullah is now among the three selected participants who will face each other for this title.
Who is Abdullah and who is competing with him?
To participate in this competition, participants must be below 16 years of age. Abdullah has completed his training from Kuwait’s ‘Al Maher Association for the Quran and its Sciences’. He has also previously won the first position in the Kuwait Grand Quran Competition (2024/2025). Abdullah will face participants from Egypt and Iraq in the final round.

Reward worth crores and information about public voting
The Dubai government has increased the prize money significantly this time. The closing ceremony of this competition will take place on 2 March 2026 in Dubai in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The total prize pool this time has been kept at more than 12 million AED (approximately 3.27 million dollars).
