However, the ICC also did not listen to PCB. The ICC did not remove Andy Picroft even after the PCB continuously reconciled. In such a situation, angry Pakistan had earlier canceled the pre -match press conference of the match against UAE. And now according to media reports, the Pakistan team management has decided not to interact with the media before the Super-4 match. A source of the tournament said- Pakistan has once again canceled the press conference before the match to avoid questions on the appointment of Pycroft and to avoid the handshake controversy.

The ICC held a meeting between Picroft and the Pakistani team management where the referee said they were sorry for wrong information. The ICC then clarified in another email that Pycroft had never apologized but regretted only the misunderstanding. The ICC also accused the PCB of violating the protocols related to the field of players and match officials. However, PCB has denied this. Even after this incident, appointing Pycroft for another match between India and Pakistan is a clear indication that the global institution does not want to retreat from its stand as doing so would have created a wrong image of the ICC.
