Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has launched its new flagship smartphone, Xiaomi 17. The company introduced it at its latest hardware event. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Generation 5 processor, which was recently introduced in Snapdragon Summit 2025. The phone has Leica-Tund camera and a premium design.
Display and design
The phone has a 6.3-inch 1.5K OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and peak brightness 3,500 notes. The display is smooth and sharp, and it also supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision and DCI-P3 color. The special thing is that its bezel is only 1.18mm thin, which makes it even more impressive.
Processor and performance
Xiaomi 17 is powered by new Snapdragon 8 Elite Generation 5 chipset, based on 3Nm technology and provides speed up to 4.6GHz. It has LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. It also comes with the company’s new Hyperos 3 and Hyperi tools, which improve phone performance and AI features.
Camera setup
For photography, it has a Leica-Tund Triple camera setup. This includes a 50MP primary lens, 50MP telephoto lens and an ultravide lens of 50MP. The front also has a 50MP selfie camera. The phone supports video recording of up to 8K, which provides excellent photos and video quality.
Powerful 7,000mAh battery
The biggest feature of this phone is its 7,000mAh battery, which is considered quite large for such a compact phone. It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The company claims that the new Xiaomi surge battery technology has improved both the battery life and charging speed of the phone.
Connectivity and Build Quality
For connectivity, it has Wifi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and USB 3.2 Type-C port. This phone is an IP68 rating, that is, it is protected from water and dust. Its weight is just 191 grams and its thickness is about 8 mm, making it light and thin.
Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max
The company has also launched Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. Both models are equipped with dual displays, large batteries and more advanced features. Pro Max has a 7500mAh battery. Both models also support 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
Price and availability
Xiaomi 17’s 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variants have an initial price of around ₹ 56,000. The 12GB + 512GB variant will be available in about ₹ 60,000 and 16GB + 512GB variant will be available for about ₹ 62,000. This smartphone is not currently available in India. The Pro model of Xiaomi 17 can be purchased from the company’s online store in China in black, white, purple and green, while Xiaomi 17 can be purchased in blue, black, white and pink.
