If you are planning to complete any big work related to banking tomorrow, February 12, 2026, then this news is very important for you. Big bank unions have announced a strike across the country regarding their demands. The biggest question in the minds of customers is whether banks will remain closed tomorrow. First of all, let us make it clear that there is no public holiday tomorrow as per the calendar of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), but the strike can have a major impact on banking operations. Let us know which banks are likely to be most affected by this strike and which of your works may be stopped.

What are the demands of bank employees?
All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA), and Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) have appealed to their members to join the strike on February 12. These unions are participating in this strike along with 10 central trade unions. Their main resentment is regarding the government’s new labor code. The unions believe that the new rules are not for the welfare of the employees. Moreover, bank employees have been demanding a 5-day work week and better work-life balance for a long time. Because of this tussle, banks will not be closed tomorrow, but your work may be delayed by hours due to shortage of staff.

Which bank’s services may be affected the most?

State Bank of India (SBI) said that a bank strike is expected across the country on February 12, which may impact banking services. The bank said that work may be affected during the strike. IDBI Bank has also received strike notice from the unions. Large public sector banks like State Bank of India (SBI) and Bank of Baroda have admitted in stock exchange filings that they will try their best to maintain normal operations, but there may be service delays. If you have to deposit a cheque, withdraw cash, or have any loan related work, then if possible, get it done today. Check clearance speed may be slow tomorrow, and long lines may form at bank counters.

Online services will continue
It is a matter of relief that online services like net banking, mobile app and UPI will continue to work as usual. There is no expectation of shortage of cash in ATMs. However, if you have to go to the bank branch in person, then call your nearest branch. The impact of the strike may be different in different cities and branches. Therefore, plan in advance to avoid last minute hassles.
