New Delhi, March 14 (IANS). Obesity is no longer just a problem of appearance, but it has become a major cause of many serious diseases including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure. In such a situation, health experts recommend some easy solutions to people suffering from the problem of increasing weight, which are effective in eliminating the problem of obesity.

According to the National Health Mission (NHM), this problem is now spreading rapidly among people of all ages, from children to the elderly. In today’s busy life, excessive consumption of junk food, lack of physical activity, sitting in front of the screen for a long time and irregular lifestyle have become the main reasons for obesity. Children spend more time on mobile and TV, due to which their physical activity reduces. At the same time, office jobs, stress and fast food habits have further promoted obesity among adults.

In such a situation, experts say that obesity is not limited to just weight gain, rather it causes inflammation in the body, increases insulin resistance and due to accumulation of fat in the arteries, the risk of heart diseases increases manifold. NHM has given some easy but effective measures for people to avoid obesity.

In fact, obesity is a problem which can be controlled more by lifestyle changes than by medicines. If care is not taken in time, it can cause diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pain and even other serious diseases.

For this, do exercise or physical activity for at least 30 minutes daily. This may include brisk walking, cycling, yoga or sports. Eat a balanced and nutritious diet. Use home-cooked food, fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains and less oil and sugar. Stay away from junk food, cold drinks and processed food. Limit screen time.

Especially do not allow children to spend more than two hours on TV, mobile or computer. Get enough sleep. A good sleep of 7-8 hours at night helps a lot in controlling obesity. Adopt an active lifestyle. Take the stairs instead of the lift, do small tasks yourself and give up the habit of sitting.
