Uttarakhand News: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the program organized on the occasion of Police Memorial Day at Police Lines, Dehradun on Tuesday. During this, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the martyrs of police and paramilitary forces by offering floral wreaths. The Chief Minister also honored the families of martyred police personnel.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister proposed to award a special Silver Jubilee Medal to all the personnel of Uttarakhand Police on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the state, to provide an amount of Rs 100 crore every year for the construction of residential buildings for police personnel in the next 3 years, to revise the currently provisioned amount of Rs 2.5 crore under the Police Welfare Fund for the implementation of various welfare schemes for the next one year. It was announced that Rs 4.5 crore would be spent and 5 barracks would be constructed for SDRF soldiers in Bhawali, Nainital, Dhalamalla, Kanda, Bageshwar, Nainidanda, Dhumakot, Pauri, Ghansali, Tehri, Satpuli and Pauri.

The Chief Minister said that the responsibility of internal security and law and order of the country rests with the police forces and paramilitary forces of the states. In the last one year, 186 paramilitary and police personnel from across India have made the supreme sacrifice while fulfilling this responsibility, including 4 brave sons of Uttarakhand Police. All the brave martyrs are the foundation of our national security, their sacrifice will always be a source of inspiration for all of us. The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working to make the state police system more efficient and resourceful. The State Government is fully committed to the welfare and empowerment of the police force.

The Chief Minister said that QRT has been formed under the Women Help Desk in every police station of the state. The government has provided a sum of Rs 500 crore for the construction of police department buildings in the last three years. This amount is many times more than in previous years. The construction work of 688 residential buildings along with administrative buildings is in progress. Soon we are also going to start construction of 120 new houses. To realize the vision of smart policing, the government has provided adequate funds for upgradation of barrack mess and work places of the soldiers. The government has so far released an amount of Rs 5 crore for the implementation of the new criminal laws. The government is also providing cashless medical facilities to all police personnel under the health scheme.

The Chief Minister said that the promotion process of police personnel has been time bound. This year 356 police officers and employees have been promoted in various categories. Process is also underway for promotion on 115 vacant posts of various categories, which will be completed soon. This year, 215 of our employees have been decorated with various medals and insignia for distinguished work and service. The state government is also continuously working towards capacity building of police personnel. Adequate funds are being provided to training institutes. PTC Narendra Nagar is also being developed as a Center of Excellence. Police personnel are being sent to reputed training institutes of the country for training related to AI and cyber security.

The Chief Minister said all processes related to salary, allowances, medical reimbursement, and leave of police personnel have been made online. The government has also approved a new company of SDRF to make disaster relief operations more effective, under which 162 new posts have been created. The candidates selected under Deputy Superintendent of Police direct recruitment are currently being provided training at PTC Narendra Nagar. Along with 222 posts of Sub Inspector, recruitment of 2000 constables is also under process.

The Chief Minister said that in order to provide support and support to the families of deceased police personnel, this year 136 dependent families have been provided appointments on various posts under the deceased dependent quota. To encourage talented players in the state, under “Uttarakhand Sports Policy”, a provision has also been made for recruitment through special quota in the police department for skilled players. Urging the senior police officers, the Chief Minister said that various programs for mental health and stress management should be organized from time to time for the police personnel.

The Chief Minister said that in memory of the bravery and dedication of the brave soldiers, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has established the National Police Memorial in the country. This memorial will introduce the coming generations to the stories of bravery and courage of our soldiers. The Chief Minister said that our police personnel show unprecedented courage in every situation. He said that our state is a geographically and strategically sensitive state, in such a situation the role of our policemen becomes even more important in maintaining the peace and security of the state.

The Chief Minister said that this year, Uttarakhand Police has made a unique contribution in providing safe and easy journey and darshan to more than 4 crore devotees in Kanwar Yatra and more than 50 lakh devotees in Chardham Yatra. The police did a commendable job in successfully conducting the VIP programs as well as ensuring tight security arrangements in the National Games and various national and international programs organized in the state. He said that our police faced the threat of natural disasters in the state with indomitable courage and promptness. Due to which the lives of many people could be saved.

The Chief Minister said that in the modern era the nature of crime is changing and the role of police is becoming more challenging. Along with theft, robbery, murder and crimes against women, new threats like drug addiction and cyber crime are also being faced. The state government has formed a three-tier anti-narcotic force of police. The force has taken action against more than 6199 drug dealers in the last three years, and has also recovered narcotic substances worth more than Rs 275 crore.

The Chief Minister said that cyber crime has become a big challenge for us. After the arrival of AI, the police will have to be even more alert in this direction because the nature of cyber crimes is changing day by day. He said that we have to be one step ahead to combat cyber criminals, and for this it is necessary for our police to be proficient in technical knowledge. He said that the police force has strengthened public confidence in Uttarakhand Police by taking prompt and effective action against cyber fraud and returning an amount of more than Rs 63 crore to the victims.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Mr. Satpal Maharaj, Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Naresh Bansal, MLA Mr. Khajan Das, Mr. Brij Bhushan Gairola, Mrs. Savita Kapoor, Chief Secretary Mr. Anand Bardhan, DGP Mr. Deepam Seth, former Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi, former DGP Mr. Anil Raturi and others were present.
