Ranchi, March 11 (IANS). Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth gave an important statement on the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the countrymen regarding the energy crisis. He said that this appeal of Prime Minister Modi is not just a general advice, but a necessary step taken in the national interest. In a special conversation with news agency IANS, Sanjay Seth said on Monday that at present the situation in the Middle East is not hidden from anyone. The ongoing tension there is having a direct impact on the global energy market. Countries like India, which do not have sufficient natural resources of oil, have to depend largely on imports for their energy needs. In such a situation, considering the international situation, the appeal for fuel saving and restraint becomes very important.
Giving examples, he said that the country has shown unity in difficult situations in the past also. Referring to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, he said that during his time people had adopted the appeal of observing a one-day fast. Similarly, the countrymen also accepted the tax imposed during the Bangladesh war. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, the public fully supported Prime Minister Modi’s appeals. Sanjay Seth said that even today there is a need to rise above political ideologies and take decisions in the interest of the country.
He said that the prices of crude oil have increased at the international level, but the prices of petrol and diesel have been kept under control in India. Compared to many countries of the world, fuel is cheaper in India. The government has not imposed additional burden on the general public. He also said that the Prime Minister has appealed to the countrymen to use public transport more, avoid unnecessary foreign trips and adopt indigenous products.
Sanjay Seth further said that he himself is following these suggestions. He said that when we live in Ranchi, we try to limit the use of motorcycle or other means and travel by metro only where metro facility is available. Even in Delhi, we use metro to reach the airport.
Responding to the Prime Minister’s appeal regarding the purchase of gold, Sanjay Seth said that people have been asked to avoid buying unnecessary gold for one year. Along with this, steps like saving fuel and reducing foreign trips have also been suggested, which are completely in the national interest. He further said that whenever Prime Minister Modi makes an appeal for the country, 140 crore Indians take it seriously. He expressed confidence that this time also the public will fully support PM Modi.
