New Delhi, February 13 (IANS). In the year 2025, people are taking more time than before to decide to buy a house in big cities of India. According to a report, houses priced at Rs 1-2 crore took the longest to buy, which was an average of 30 days. In the year 2024, this time in the same category was 47 days, i.e. there has been a decrease of about 17 days.
According to a report by Anarock Group’s AI-based analytics platform Astra, due to rising home prices, greater availability of new homes in the market and other attractive investment options, buyers are becoming more thoughtful in making the final decision.
Anarock Group Vice Chairman Santosh Kumar said that people buying homes worth Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore took an average of 29 days to book. This situation was almost similar in 2024 also. Whereas for houses priced below Rs 3 crore, it took an average of 27 days in 2025, while the same time in 2024 was the least at 17 days.
According to the report, this change shows that the market is no longer completely in favor of sellers. Now buyers are taking decisions more thoughtfully and selectively, especially when it comes to luxury homes. With the increase in the number of new expensive homes on the market, buyers have more options.
However, the fastest decision was taken in houses priced between Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore. In this category, the average time taken in 2025 was only 15 days, whereas in 2024 the same time was 28 days. The reason for this is believed to be the trust of people in this segment and taking quick decisions due to limited supply.
The time for purchasing has also reduced in cheap houses i.e. houses priced below Rs 50 lakh. While in 2024 it took an average of 28 days, in 2025 it came down to 19 days. According to the report, due to less number of new houses in this segment, people are taking decisions quickly.
Additionally, due to rising rents in big cities, first-time home buyers are also making early decisions. Easy home loans, digital loan process and better credit facilities have also helped in this.
The consumer behavior data analyzed shows that the shortest time taken between 2020 and 2025 was in 2022, with an average of 22 days to make a purchase decision. The maximum time taken was in 2020, which was 35 days.
