A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. Here a massive explosion took place in Imam Bargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra Mosque located in Tarlai area. The incident occurred on Friday, February 5, 2026, when people had gathered there for namaz. According to reports, so far 20 people have been confirmed dead in this attack, while more than 80 people are said to be seriously injured.
How did the mosque attack happen and what is the situation?
This blast took place in the Shia Mosque when a large number of people were present there. The intensity of the blast was so much that the surrounding area was shaken. The injured were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned this attack and has instructed the administration for better treatment of the injured. Security agencies have sealed the entire area and investigation is underway.
There were continuous attacks in Balochistan also
Just before the incident in Islamabad, a period of violence was also seen in Balochistan. Between 31 January and 3 February 2026, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) carried out several coordinated attacks. 48 Pakistani civilians were killed in these attacks, including 31 civilians. Among those killed were 5 women and 3 children.
In response to these attacks, the Pakistani Army has claimed to take major action. According to reports, the Army has killed 197 BLA militants in the retaliatory operation. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has also condemned these attacks.
