Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has once again become the center of diplomacy. Important meetings have taken place here between representatives of Russia and America. Russia’s special envoy Kirill Dmitriev has described these meetings as very positive. He also met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for hosting the talks.

What was specifically discussed in the meeting?
According to reports, the first trilateral talks were held between Russia, the US and Ukraine on 23 and 24 January 2026. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the talks have been ‘constructive’ at the initial stage. However, a lot of work still remains to be done on many issues. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the parties had worked on a 20-point peace plan, which had helped defuse some of the contentious issues.
Which big faces were included?
This high-profile meeting included key US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Senior officials like Yuri Ushakov and Igor Kostyukov were present from the Russian side. It is being told that the next round of talks may take place around February 1. Both sides have acknowledged that no major agreement has been reached yet, but the path to talks is open and it is being taken forward at the expert level.
