There has been an air attack on a main highway bridge connecting Tehran and Karaj city in Iran. At least two people have lost their lives and many others have been injured in this attack. This incident took place on April 2, 2026, in which Iran’s highest B1 bridge was targeted. After this attack, there was darkness in many parts of Karaj city and electricity supply came to a standstill.

What is the situation in Iran after the attack?
After the air strike, there have been reports of power outage in areas like Azimiya, Fardis and Jahan city of Karaj city. Iran’s news agency Fars has confirmed that the attacks were not limited to the bridge, but blasts also occurred in other parts of Karaj. It has also had a bad impact on the industrial sector. Mobarakeh Steel Company have reported that their work has come to a complete halt due to the attacks, while some other factories may take months to recover.
Military action and international response
US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Brad Cooper has claimed that the Iranian army has suffered significant losses after the military operation of the last five weeks. Amidst this tension, other Gulf countries have also increased security. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has shot down missiles and drones that entered its airspace. Pakistan and Russia have offered talks between the two countries to reduce tension.
