US President Donald Trump says it is ‘shameful’ for students from countries like India and China to return to their home countries after completing their graduation from top US universities.
Trump claimed that the ‘Trump Gold Card’ scheme will enable companies to hire and retain such talent in the country. On Wednesday, he announced the launch of a ‘Trump Gold Card’ scheme worth one million dollars. This is a visa program that will provide immigrants a path to obtain US citizenship.
The ‘Trump Gold Card’ is a visa that is based on an individual’s ability to provide substantial benefits to the United States.
“It’s a gift to have a great man come to our country, because we think these are some of the extraordinary people who would not be allowed to live here,” Trump said at a meeting at the White House. After they graduate from college, they have to go back to India, they have to go back to China, they have to go back to France. They have to go back to where they came from. It is very difficult to stay there. This is shameful. This is a ridiculous thing. We are paying attention to this.
Trump announced that the Gold Card website has launched and companies can purchase Gold Cards to keep students from top US universities like Wharton, Harvard and MIT in the US.
IBM’s Indian-American CEO Arvind Krishna and Dell Technologies Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michael Dell were also present on the occasion.
