Dubai International Airport (DXB) is going to completely change the security screening process for its passengers. Now passengers will not need to remove laptops, tablets or liquids from their handbags during security check. Scanners with modern AI technology are being installed at the airport, which will eliminate long queues and make travel easier than before.
When will this new system be fully implemented?
Dubai Airports has informed that five to six new machines have just started working in Terminal 3. These modern machines are called ‘Level 3’ scanners. According to the plan, by the end of 2026, more than 100 such scanners will be installed at all the terminals of the airport. This simply means that in the next few years the old security check method will completely become history.
What major benefits will the passengers get?
With the advent of this new technology, the biggest benefit to passengers will be time saving. Earlier, it used to take an average of 45 seconds to check a passenger, which will now reduce to just 6 to 14 seconds. Apart from this, there have also been some major changes in the rules:
Now there will be no need to take out the laptop or electronics from the bag. The restriction of 100ml liquid which has been in place since 2007 will end. Passengers will now be able to carry full size perfumes, deodorants or lotions in their cabin bags.
flight alert system
Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths has told about another new facility that will help passengers. A system is being introduced at the airport that will connect shops and restaurants with flight data. If a passenger is shopping or eating too close to their flight time, the staff will receive an alert. After this, the staff will go and remind the passenger about how much time it will take to reach the gate so that they do not miss their flight.
