America and Israel have fired missiles on many cities of Iran, which has increased tension in the Middle East. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has claimed that he is in very good talks with Iran to end the war. He has ordered to postpone attacks on Iran’s power plants and energy centers for five days. However, some senior leaders of Iran have directly denied any talks and termed it as mere psychological pressure.
Have talks really started between Iran and America?
US President Donald Trump says that there have been very positive talks between Washington and Tehran for the last two days. He believes that this opportunity can be used to reach a major agreement that will bring peace to the area. On the other hand, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has called this claim as false news. According to him, America is saying such things only to influence the oil market.
However, some efforts seem to be being made behind the scenes. It is reported that countries like Pakistan, Türkiye and Egypt are mediating between the two countries. There is also talk of some big meetings being held in Islamabad, Pakistan this week in which US Vice President JD Vance may attend. An official of Iran’s Foreign Ministry has also indicated that they have received some proposals from the US through intermediaries which are being considered.
What has been the impact of the attacks so far and how many people were affected?
This war is considered to have started from 28 February 2026 and till now there has been huge loss. You can get an idea of the current situation in the table given below:

Have the attacks stopped completely now?
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has made it clear that the President’s order is only for energy and power related targets. Attacks on military targets, ballistic missile plants and Iran’s navy will continue as before. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also said that they will continue their military operations in Iran and Lebanon.
A matter of concern for people living in Gulf countries and expatriate Indians is that Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz and lay mines in the sea. If this route is closed, it could have a major impact on oil supply and air travel. At present, America has given a deadline to Iran to open this route, a decision on which will be taken in the coming days.
