The upcoming cars of JSW Motors in the Indian market will be based on the models of Chinese companies, which will be brought with slight changes and given a new name.
JSW Motors is preparing to launch 5 new electrified SUVs in the Indian market in the next 2-3 years. The special thing is that all these vehicles will be based on the models of Chinese company Chery, which will be slightly changed and introduced in India in a new style. All these cars have been seen during testing in India.
1. Jetour T2
The first model from JSW Motors will be based on the Jetour T2. It is a D-segment SUV, which will compete with vehicles like Toyota Fortuner and MG Majestor. It measures 4,785 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width and 1,875 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2,800 mm. It can be launched in India by September through CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kit. It will have plug-in hybrid technology, which will be for the first time in this segment. Its electric range is about 139 km (NEDC).
2. Jaecoo J5
The second model from JSW Motors will be based on the Jaecoo J5, which can be launched in January 2027. This SUV will compete with Hyundai Creta Electric. It measures 4,380 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,650 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2,620 mm. Chery makes it in both hybrid and electric variants, but initially only the electric version can be launched in India, which will have a range of around 461 km (NEDC).
3. iCar V23
The iCar V23 is a retro-style electric SUV. It measures 4,220 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width and 1,845 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2,730 mm. It comes in single motor RWD and dual motor AWD versions. Its AWD version may come in India. It can compete with Tata Sierra EV. Its range is up to 360 km (RWD) and 430 km (AWD). It can be launched in the third quarter of 2027.
4. Chery Q
Chery Q is an affordable small SUV. Its length is 4,195 mm, width is 1,811 mm and height is 1,574 mm, while the wheelbase is 2,700 mm. This could become an SUV for JSW Motors to compete with the MG Windsor EV. It can be made locally in India by 2028. Its range is about 400 km (NEDC).
5. Jaecoo J7
The Jaecoo J7 is a C-segment SUV that comes in ICE, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. JSW Motors may launch it in India in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms by late 2027 or early 2028. It will compete with upcoming vehicles like Kia Seltos Hybrid and Duster Hybrid. It measures 4,500 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width and 1,670 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2,672 mm. The electric range of its plug-in hybrid version is around 106 km (NEDC).
