Uttarakhand news: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday participated in the state level program on the occasion of International Older Day at Himalayan Cultural Center, Lemonwala, Dehradun. He greeted all senior citizens of the state on International Older Day. On this occasion, he honored the elderly and also made the Senior Civil Award resolution. During the program, the Chief Minister also planted saplings in the name of a tree mother. During this time, the Chief Minister flagged off the free ambulance van and Vakathan rally of the enlargement dedicated to the service of the elderly.
CM Dhami said important things
The Chief Minister said that senior citizens are pillars of our society, whose blessings and experience are guides for all society. He said that through various schemes of the state government and the central government, continuous efforts are being made for respect, security, health and welfare of the elderly. Referring to many welfare schemes including Atal Vayabhyudaya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Vay Vandana Yojana, Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana, Old Age Pension Scheme, he said that the amount of pension is being made available directly to about 6 lakh elderly people in the state through DBT in their bank accounts.
Fast in the arrangement of old age homes – CM Dhami
The Chief Minister said that the system of old age homes in the state is constantly being strengthened. State old age homes are operating in Bageshwar, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts, while new buildings in Dehradun, Almora and Champawat are under construction. Model old age home is being constructed at Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district with the help of the central government. The process for the establishment of old age homes is also moving in Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pauri and Pithoragarh.
The Chief Minister said that experts are being trained to take care of senior citizens under the Jeriatric Care Givar Training Program. The state aims to prepare 150 master trainers and care givars this year.
The target of free surgery of 1300 senior citizens this year
The Chief Minister said that under the National Vayoshri Yojana, accessories are being provided to the elderly. This year 1,300 senior citizens have been targeted to undergo a free surgery of cataract. Parents and Senior Citizens Maintenance Acts have also been implemented in the state to protect the rights of senior citizens.
On this occasion Cabinet Minister Shri Ganesh Joshi, Chairman Senior Citizen Welfare Council Shri Ramchandra Gaur, Vice President Mrs. Shanti Mehra, Mr. Harak Singh Negi, Chairman of SC Commission Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Secretary Social Welfare Dr. Sridhar Babu Addanki, Director Social Welfare Shri Chandra Singh Dharmashaktu were present.
